Aldershot DFA 20 Year Award – Thura Win
ADFA Long Service Award- Thura Win
We were delighted to make a presentation to our Aldershot Divisional Football Association (ADFA) President Thura Win at our recent AGM at Aldershot Town FC.
Life Vice President John Marchment presented the ADFA Long Service Award (minimum 20 years) to Thura who has an extensive history in local football.
Thura first became a Council Member in 1996 and prior to taking the role as President in 2009 served as Chair between 2005 and 2009. He was also involved within the Hampshire FA for 13 years including 11 years as a Director and eight as Deputy Chair. Thura was also a huge influence in the progression of Women’s Football and has been involved with the Southern Region Women’s Football League for 28 years; currently as Chair and also within the Women’s Football Conference. Despite now residing in Sussex, where he also sits on the County FA Board, Thura still has a healthy presence within our local game.
However it is at the Football Association that Thura has been extensively involved over the past 16 years. Joining as an FA Council Member in 2007 he has been involved in a variety of roles notably on the FA Women’s board since 2017 and, currently, as Vice Chair of the FA National Game Board. He is also a full FA Main Board Director; a post he commenced in 2021.
On the international scene Thura has been a UEFA Delegate since 2017 and also FIFA Match Commissioner from 2021 to date.
Thura is a huge asset to the Aldershot DFA and we are grateful for his consistent support, guidance, influence and presence within our Association.
